Hormones are the body’s chemical messengers that play an important role in one’s health. A slight disruption may complicate your system.
For females, hormonal problems are, unfortunately, very common. An elevated or decreased estrogen level in women can lead to hormonal imbalances that affect one’s reproductive health and fertility.
Hormone imbalances can cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, especially for menopausal women. Winter Wellness, a Flagstaff-based Naturopathic and Hormone Clinic, fully understands this. We are committed to helping you alleviate your hormonal issues through our hormone therapy.
Hormones regulate many aspects of life, such as growth and development, sexual functions, and mood. For a healthy mind and body, it is important to have balanced hormone levels.
Female hormones like estrogen play an important role in a woman’s body. As you get older, estrogen levels drop and menopause symptoms begin to appear. This causes hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and irregularities in your monthly period.
Hormonal disorders can cause problems in the body’s normal functions such as mood fluctuations, anxiety, and even endometrial cancer. If not treated, these may lead to a disruption in the body’s ability to function properly.
These signs and symptoms are indicators that your estrogen, androgen, and progesterone levels may not be optimal.
Symptoms:
Hormone replacement therapy (popularly known as menopausal hormone therapy) is a medication that contains female hormones. This medication replaces the estrogen that your body stops making during menopause (estrogen therapy).
The therapy can be used to treat menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes and vaginal discomfort. It has also been proven to reduce bone loss and fracture in postmenopausal women.
Hormone therapy is not without health risks, just like other treatments for different diseases. If not administered by a trusted licensed health professional, hormone therapy may bring an increased risk of breast cancer, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes, and gallbladder disease.
HRT may not be recommended if you have these health issues:
Certain types of HRT have a higher risk, and each woman’s risks can vary, depending upon the individual’s personal medical history and lifestyle. You and your health care provider need to discuss the risks and benefits for you.
Bio-identical Hormones chemically have the same structure as the hormones that your own body produces. Compounded prescriptions are preferred so they can be tailored to your specific needs.
Common Types prescribed: estradiol, estriol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and pregnenolone.
Common Forms: topical creams, oral capsules, troches, and pellets
